It's a rural area — quiet and open, with low hills, cork oaks, granite, and small villages spread across a wide landscape.
The nearest towns are Fundão (around 30 minutes) and Castelo Branco (around 45 minutes). Serra da Estrela is about 45–50 minutes away. Lisbon is roughly 2.5 hours by car. A car is recommended — the surrounding area is best reached at your own pace.
Around Limiar, the rhythm is slower. Days pass with walks through the forest, visits to nearby villages, and long stretches of quiet. Central Portugal keeps its own pace — rural, unhurried, closer to the land.
